Your Questions, Answered

  • North York Cycles hosts weekly Tuesday group rides for casual/recreational cyclists.

  • This is for our casual or recreational cyclists. Those who like to ride for fun and are not interested in going fast.

Kids are also welcomed to join the group rides, as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

If you are an active road cyclist, we have Sunday morning group rides.

  • We meet on Tuesdays, 6 p.m. (EST) at Hendon Park, by the washroom facilities on the west side of the park.

  • The distances can range from 5km to 15km, depending on the Ride Leaders’ decision. Do keep in mind that hills and riding on residential roads may be included in the routes, so please be mindful of those cautions.

Usually, we have a faster group and a slower group, but we are a “no-drop” group (we will not abandon anyone).

  • For our Tuesday group rides, we are not weather-adverse. That means that if the weather is rainy, hailing, hot (extreme heat wave), or any other undesirable conditions that could be a risk to our participants, we will cancel the ride for that day.

Follow our Instagram (@northyorkcycles) to be notified whether the group ride is cancelled.

  • Nope! We are simply a community group that wants to host free group rides. This is. a wonderful opportunity to make friends and get active.

  • Safety is of the utmost importance to this group. This means we obey traffic laws, ensure that all our participants are comfortable and supported, and minimize risks to our riders.

Secondly, as the saying goes, “treat others the way you want to be treated”. This means that we are mindful and respectful in sharing the trails and roads with others.

Any participant caught disobeying our etiquette after a warning will be asked to leave the group.
