Tuesday Group Rides

The ride season is from May 5, 2026, to October 6, 2026.

🟧 For cyclists who ride casually, recreationally, or to commute, this group ride is for you!

Every Tuesday, we cycle around the neighbourhood and trails. This is a slow/casual pace, with distances ranging from 5-15 km.

Kids are welcome (must be accompanied by an adult).

🟪 NEW IN 2026: INTERMEDIATE GROUP RIDES

This is for intermediate cyclists who aren’t ready for or interested in the Sunday road cyclist group rides. We will schedule a few sessions throughout the season for a 20-40km ride at an average pace of 18-20 km/hr.

Your Questions, Answered

  • North York Cycles hosts weekly Tuesday group rides for casual/recreational cyclists. This is a great way for people to cycle with their neighbours, build friendships, and get some exercise.

  • This is for our casual or recreational cyclists. Those who like to ride for fun and are not interested in going fast.

    Kids are also welcome to join the group rides, as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

    If you are an active road cyclist, we have Sunday morning group rides.

  • We meet on Tuesdays, 6 p.m. (EST) at Hendon Park, by the washroom facilities on the west side of the park.

  • The distances can range from 5km to 15km, depending on the Ride Leaders’ decision. Do keep in mind that hills and riding on residential roads may be included in the routes, so please be mindful of those cautions.

    Usually, we have a faster group and a slower group, but we are a “no-drop” group (we will not abandon anyone).

  • For our Tuesday group rides, we are not weather-adverse. That means that if the weather is rainy, hailing, hot (extreme heat wave), or any other undesirable conditions that could be a risk to our participants, we will cancel the ride for that day.

    Follow our Instagram (@northyorkcycles) to be notified whether the group ride is cancelled.

  • Nope! We are simply a community group that wants to host free group rides. This is. a wonderful opportunity to make friends and get active.

  • Safety is of the utmost importance to this group. This means we obey traffic laws, ensure that all our participants are comfortable and supported, and minimize risks to our riders.

    Secondly, as the saying goes, “treat others the way you want to be treated”. This means that we are mindful and respectful in sharing the trails and roads with others.

    Any participant caught disobeying our etiquette after a warning will be asked to leave the group.

🗺️ First intermediate group ride for our road cyclists. A solid 22.6 km route.

  1. Start at Hendon Park and go along the trails down to Leslie.

  2. Get to G Ross Lord Park Dam.

  3. Finish back at Hendon Park.

This intermediate group ride is only for road cyclists who can maintain a solid average speed of 18 to 20 km/hr over the entire distance.
